Deborah Samson was a female soldier who pretend to be a male in order to join the Continental Army. During a battle with redcoats, she was shot in the shoulder. Luckily, Sarah Phillips was able to take her to West Point Hospital. It was at this point when Dr. Barnabas Binney came in the room after Deborah apparently loses consciousness. He takes off her coat and realizes she was actually a woman. She was honorably discharged later.
